Troubleshooting:

  • The first thing you want to do is test the X-Arcade™ on your PC using the X-Arcade™ Test Utility Program to check that it is being recognized by your PC properly. If your controller works in the X-Arcade™ Test Program, then your controller is fine. Run the X-Arcade™ Test Program.
  • If the button layout is different from the one above, be sure the switch on the Xbox One™ adapter is set to 'Pad', not 'Wheel'.
  • If you have trouble getting both players to work at the same time, try plugging both Xbox One™ adapters into the USB ports of the console at the same time while the console is already on.
  • The Xbox One adapters will only work with the current 5in1 adapter with permanently attached cables. If your 5in1 adapter has detachable cables as shown by number 3 in the diagram above, it will not work.
  • If you are still having trouble but your X-Arcade is working on the PC with our test program, try the X-Arcade on a PlayStation 1 or 2 console to see if it works there (if possible). If you have a PlayStation 1 or 2 gamepad, please also test if it works on the One adapter. This will help troubleshoot the cause.

USB Extension/Hub:

It is possible to use a USB hub to connect both players to a single USB port on the Xbox console, a customer recommended this one that worked for him. He was also able to use it with this 25ft USB extension cable. It may work with many others, but this one he confirms does.

Old Version Only (shown here): PC Workaround for 2 Players on USB 3.0 ports:

There is a known problem with Xbox One drivers for PC currently that isn't allowing 2 players to be used at once on USB 3.0 ports. When working correctly on USB 2.0 ports (with 2 players connected to the PC) in Device Manager you should see 2x 'Xbox Controller' listed under 'Xbox Peripherals and 2x' 'XINPUT compatible HID device' under 'Human Interface Devices' (see pic). It is key that all 4 are showing, as it will not work correctly if you only have 1x 'XINPUT compatible HID device' listed on a USB 3.0 port. The simplest solution is to just use it on USB 2.0 ports if your PC has them (most do). Otherwise use the workaround below.

  1. With both players connected to the PC, Open Device Manager, click the arrow next to 'Xbox Peripherals' and notice that you have 2x devices listed as 'Xbox Controller', and under Human Interface Devices you will have 1x listed as 'XINPUT compatible HID device'. Those are the default Win10 drivers. Download and install this Xbox One controller driver. This gives you a 2nd driver option and changes the driver being used, so you will now notice that the Xbox Peripherals are now listed as 'Microsoft Xbox One Controller' instead and under Human Interface Devices they are listed as 'Xbox One Wireless Controller'. But unfortunately this driver has its own problem which makes both controllers control the same player, so go to next step.
  2. In Device Manager under Human Interface Devices, right-click on the 'Xbox One Wireless Controller' and choose 'Update Driver Software', choose 'Browse my Computer.', then 'Let me pick.', uncheck 'Show compatible hardware', browse to 'Microsoft' on the left and choose 'XINPUT compatible HID device' on the right. Do the same for the other one. No need to reboot here.
  3. Now under Xbox Peripherals right-click on the 1st listed 'Xbox Microsoft Xbox One Controller' and choose 'Update Driver Software', choose 'Browse my Computer.', then 'Let me pick.' and choose 'Xbox Controller'. Now do the same for the other (the 2nd in the list). If both 'XINPUT compatible HID device' are showing, reboot. If not, go to step 4.
  4. See Animation Below. At this point you should have all 4 showing like this. If you instead only have 1 'XINPUT compatible HID device', right-click on the 2nd 'Xbox Controller' under 'Xbox Peripherals' and change it back to 'Xbox One Wireless Controller', and then change it back to 'Xbox Controller' again. If that doesn't work, try the same with the first in the list instead. Once you have all 4 showing, REBOOT!
  5. Download Xinput Test to test that both players are working. If the players are reversed, simply swap the PS2 plugs on the Xbox One adapters.

Once you have it working correctly it will stay working even after a reboot. But if you unplug either of them from the PC you will only need to do step 4 again as shown in the animation below.
